Achieve Weight Loss - Conquer Obesity and Overweight!     ( Have a hot story about this topic? Sound off!! )

Weight loss importance varies from person to person and can be critical in certain cases. Obesity is simply too much body fat.

Normally, a person who is 20% over the normal weight for their age, sex, build, and height is considered obese.

According to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, a person's weight is healthy if:

  • it falls within the acceptable range for his or her height and age;
  • if the pattern of fat distribution does not place the person at increased risk for certain diseases;
  • and if the person has no medical problem for which a doctor recommends weight loss.

Whether a person is overweight is only part of the story, however. Perhaps more important than weight is the percentage of fat in the human body.

For healthy women, fat can account for as much as 25% of body weight when pregnant or breastfeeding; 17% is a healthy percentage for men.

Women's bodies are designed to carry a higher proportion of fat tissue to make sure there is plenty of fuel for both pregnancy and nursing.

Weight loss for women's health and wellbeing can be crucially important.

The average human body has between 30 to 40 billion fat cells in it.

Most of the extra calories we eat that we do not need for immediate energy are stored away as fat.

As fat accumulates, it crowds the space needed by the body's internal organs.

Complications due to obesity

  • Obesity, even moderate overweight, puts stress on the back, legs, and internal organs.

This can eventually cause many physical problems and compromise overall health, which again crystalizes the need for weight loss.

  • Obesity also increases the body's resistance to insulin and vulnerability to infection.

It puts one at high risk for developing coronary artery disease, diabetes, gallbladder disease, high blood pressure, kidney disease, stroke, and other serious health problems that can result in premature death.

  • Additionally, complications in pregnancy and liver damage also are more common in overweight people.
  • More than that, obese persons suffer psychologically as well as physically because our society tends to relate beauty, intelligence, and even success with being thin.

Conversely, negative things like laziness and ignorance society relates with being fat.

Hence the compelling need for weight loss and weight management.

Causes of obesity

The most common causes of obesity are poor diet and eating habits combined with a lack of exercise.

Other factors that can contribute to obesity include: glandular malfunctions, diabetes, hypoglycemia, emotional tension, boredom, and a simple love of food.

Obesity has also been linked to food sensitivities and/or allergies.

Also, food your body cannot use or that is a poison to your system is stored in the tissues and causes water retention.

Ironically with all the extra food, poor nutrition may be an important factor in obesity.

Hence the need for high quality nutritional supplements to help you succeed in your weight loss and weight management programs.

Importance of weight loss

Weight loss becomes especially important because when there is inadequate intake of certain essential nutrients, fat is not easily or adequately burned and can accumulate in the body.

Obesity is a serious health problem and, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it is on the rise in the USA.

Over 34% of Americans are 20% or more overweight.

Even though the USA has gone through several fitness crazes in recent years, Americans today are fatter, more stressed out, and less likely to get regular exercise than they were 10 years ago.

However, even though Americans are getting fatter, it isn't because they are not interested in weight loss.

National surveys estimate that at any given time, 25 to 50 % of adult Americans are on some sort of diet, and spend more than $30 billion dollars each year on diet aids, books, and remedies.

Unfortunately, weight loss alone is not the solution, weight management is needed, for even those who lose weight often put it back on.

Importance of weight management

Weight management must become a way of life. It is estimated that 67% of those who lose weight regain the lost pounds within a 3 to 5 year period.

Traditionally, there are three basic approaches to weight loss and weight management through nutritional supplementation.

  • The first is the use of diuretic herbs and nutrients to reduce water retention.

  • The second is the use of lipotropic vitamins, which have the ability to reduce high cholesterol and fat.

  • Third is the use of natural appetite suppressants.

Permanent weight loss, however, requires a lifetime commitment to a healthier lifestyle in general including food/diet, regular exercise, and improved mental spiritual outlook.

ALSO, FOR WEIGHT LOSS AND OVERALL HEALTH, MAKE AS MANY OF THE FOLLOWING LIFESTYLE CHANGES AS POSSIBLE

  • Find a good nutritional supplement program and stick to it. The Journal of the American Medical Association recommends that every adult take a daily multi-vitamin supplement to support their diet and help to prevent disease.
  • drink at least 8 glasses of water a day

  • use a colon cleanser 4 times a year (every quarter). In fact, it is a good idea that before you start any suppliment program, you first cleanse, thereafter you nourish and protect.

  • make your own juice with a juice machine

  • more important than calories is eating the right foods

  • avoid snacking between meals unless it's carrot and celery sticks

  • do not drink soda pop, other junk food drinks

  • if you drink coffee or alcohol, do so only in moderation

  • avoid processed foods, white sugar, white flour

  • brown rice is good

  • avoid red meat and animal fats

  • reduce dairy products, cheese, milk, and others

  • get enough sleep. It is believed that the body’s healing hormones are most active between 10.00 PM and 2.00 AM at nights.

  • light to moderate exercise

  • avoid artificial sweeteners

  • avoid smoking -both first and second hand smoke

  • never skip meals - this can slow down your metabolism

  • eat a balance and varied diet

  • don't deprive yourself of foods you love, just eat them in smaller portions and less frequently.

  • watch less TV: read more, especially inspirational books, e.g."The Game Of Life" by Florence Scovel Shinn. (This you can   )

  • Red wine has Resveratrol, an antioxidant. These work to protect your body against the effects of aging. One or 2 glasses of red wine a day can help keep your body young.
  • Smiling does wonders to your attitude, endears you to people and counteracts the effects of stress. Smiling can actually improve your mood.

  • Fast and Pray ..you will find surprising improvement in all aspects of life and healing
