The visual manifestation of Uterine Fibroids is heavy and prolong bleeding and big period clots. Fibroids could make life miserable and literally a living hell for the women who suffer from them.
It usually affects younger women, especially African American women, during their years of fertility. Fibroids and not malignant.
Once a woman gets to menopause, Uterine Fibroids declines. Older post menopausal women are seldom prone to this condition.
If they have fibroid-like growths then, there is a high probability that those growths are not Uterine Fibroids but may in fact be malignant.
Although all women of all races are prone to this condition, African American women are disproportionally more susceptible. Fibroids can be of any size and numbers and can occur in any part of the uterus - inside or outside.
There is a great correlation with family history and this disease. If others in your family have it, there is a good chance that you will too.
Treatments include artery embolization. Full or partial hysterectomy is another.
Your doctor should be consulted to discuss the options and alternatives available for treatment.
