People taking certain anti-epileptic drugs may develop a form of resistance to vitamin D.

Effects of excessive vitamin D

Too much vitamin D can be toxic resulting in poisoning.

This causes a loss of appetite, vomiting, headache, drowsiness and, diarrhea.

Additionally, hardening of the soft tissues of the heart, blood vessels, renal tubules, and lungs.

Treatment consists of simply stopping the vitamin dosage and beginning a low-calcium diet until symptoms stop.

Although Vitamin D should not be taken to excess so as to cause an overdose on vitamin d, the vitamin is essential for good health.

As a result, a good supplementation is needed.
