Mcafee Siteadvisor Complaints - Mcafee Siteadvisor Is Defective, Flawed, and Inaccurate

MCAfee Siteadvisor software purports to be a protective web ranking advisory service.

Instead MCAfee Siteadvisor is a defective, flawed, and inaccurate web crawling robot which perpetuates a fraud on those who use it.

Its rankings and warnings about the “riskiness” of a site are arbitrary and fraught with wrong and erroneous analyses.

It ranks sites as safe which by MCAfee Siteadvisor’s own analysis are laden with downright objective behavior.

On the other hand, they rank sites that are ethical and by their own ranking do nothing wrong, they rank them as risky to visit.

MCAfee Siteadvisor is a fraud perpetuated on it’s subscribers as their promise of protection is the major selling feature of their software.

Go here to see a good analysis of MCAfee’s errant, reckless and irresponsible behavior.

MCAfee Siteadvisor Erroneous Report on womens-health-symmetry.com

The warning “ womens-health-symmetry.com may be risky to visit according to McAfee” is just plain mistaken and wrong.

It is totally erroneous! It is just incorrect!

I have worked hard, honestly, and ethically over many, many, years to build and maintain this website. Any growth gained has been slow and painstaking, but has been earned by the constant and steady addition of good content.

Having to be put in a position to defend a faulty analysis by MCAfee is painful and grievous.

No unethical, risky, or illegal activities and practices have been used in building womens-health-symmetry.com.

Frankly, I wouldn't know how.

It is utterly unfair and befuddling to me to see that warning by MCAffee. Nothing is offered on womens-health-symmetry.com to be downloaded.

When I followed the link from the MCAfee warning to the MCAfee result page, the following is what I found.

(Start of analysis - any bold words are directly from MCAfee Siteadvisor analysis)

  1. Nothing under:

    • Third-Party Cookies ----- doubleclick.net

  4. Reviewer and Web site owner comments
    • All MCAfee Siteadvisor fields were zeros

(End of your Page analysis)

I see no reason from MCAfee Siteadvisor ‘s page analysis for there to be a warning about “potential suspicious behavior on this site which may pose a security risk.”

Regarding annoyances, MCAfee Siteadvisor explanation reads as follows “Annoyances indicates our overall opinion of a website's pop-up practices.”

womens-health-symmetry.com has a single pop-under the home page.

The page that pops is to another very relevant page on womens-health-symmetry.com. That is the only pop-up or pop-under on the entire site.

My Own Action As A Result Of MCAfee Siteadvisor Analysis

There were some You Tube videos on some of the pages of womens-health-symmetry.com that complimented the topic of the page they were on.

Since I also noticed that sometimes when I visit the You Tube website, there is a MCAfee warning that it may be “risky to visit”, I wandered if that was the cause of the warnings to womens-health-symmetry.com.

I also wondered if the “Third-Party Cookies ---- doubleclick.net” from MCAfee Siteadvisor analysis were also from You Tube because I had no doubleclick.net product on my site.

Since I had some You Tube videos on womens-health-symmetry.com, I surmised that it’s the You Tube videos that must be creating the problem with MCAfee Siteadvisor analysis.

What Did I Do?

I removed all You Tube videos from womens-health-symmetry.com.

Result

The MCAffee security warnings remained the same - “risky”.

It is very unfair to have the credibility and reputation of my site questioned and even destroyed by the mistaken warnings of some defective, flawed, and inaccurate web crawling robot which in itself has to be so faulty.

It now leads me to wonder when one sees these warnings, how many of them are really believable or accurate.

Once you have the warning that:

“McAfee TrustedSource web reputation analysis found potential suspicious behavior on this site which may pose a security risk. Use with caution.”

how many people will continue to the site or even check the meaning of the analysis? Near zero to none!

From my own experience, whenever I see any warning about a website, I do not visit. I now feel sorry for those sites that are targeted unfairly by MCAfee Siteadvisor.

Worse yet is the fact that they may not even know that they are being targeted and unfairly maligned by MCAfee Siteadvisor.

I don’t know how long MCAfee Siteadvisor’s erroneous report against womens-health-symmetry.com existed, but once I recognized it, I have been emailing MCAfee Siteadvisor staff but to no avail.

I hope that they will exercise some sensitivity and recognize the damage that they are doing to innocent and ethical website publishers.

It is also really sad that the traffic that is cultivated because of a publishers diligent effort through the production of valid, trustworthy and solid content and without the use of any unethical behavior can be negatively affected because of MCAfee’s erroneous report.

Further Actions That I Took To Make MCAfee Siteadvisor Aware of their Error

Further actions to make MCAfee Siteadvisor aware of their error have been fruitless.

  • I have followed MCAfee Siteadvisor’s link on “How do you submit a site rating dispute?” and submitted several disputes but to no avail.
  • I have emailed their support staff from both womens-health-symmetry.com website and also from my aol.com email.

Twice, I received an automated response as to receipt but there has been no other response to date.

  • I even tried to write a review as the publisher of womens-health-symmetry.com on MCAfee Siteadvisor site but was not allowed to.

It is very unfair to have the credibility and reputation of my site questioned and even destroyed by the mistaken warnings of some defective, flawed, and inaccurate web crawling robot which in itself has to be so faulty.

When a robot can damage the reputation of a sincere, tenable and sound website, there needs to be something done to remedy this.

What Could Be Done Against Rogue Reporting Sites?

I hope that there could be some controlling authority on the web that could regulate such rogue action by any self appointed website on ranking and reporting on other sites.

For instance, it should be mandated that when any such damaging warning be given about a website, the reporting site should inform the webmaster of the reported site of what they have found.

That obligation should be required to be done within three days after such warning have been initiated and published by the reporting site.

This way the harm will not continue indefinitely and unknowingly to those who are victimized by those warnings.

Also, the rogue reporting site will not operate with the impunity and insensitivity that MCAfee Siteadvisor seems to display now.

Then the webmaster should be given a chance to rebut any report if it is wrong. If their report is wrong, the reporting should be required to remove it within a time certain.

If I did not have MCAfee as my own anti-virus software, I would not have been aware of their erroneous reporting.

Just as there are rogue websites, it is also obvious that their could be rogue self appointed anti-virus and anti-spy-ware and anti-whatever-else sites.

When the Reported Site Is Harmed by a Reprobate Reporting Site, Is There Any Redress?

As I mentioned, I use MCAffee anti-virus software for my internet protection. That is how I became aware of their crooked reporting.

I now wonder how many of these warnings that I have received from them of this nature regarding other websites were really correct.

Also, how many publishers of those sites, especially those who were innocent of any “risky” behavior even knew that their site was being tarnished?

They may have provided only good and sound content as womens-health-symmetry.com and never even knew that their reputation was been wrongfully smudged, stained, sullied and tainted by some charlatan company that purports to have proprietary software to detect risky behavior.

Unfortunately, those who use their software really believe that they are protected.

It is left to those who are affected to rage about this outrage, and cry foul as loudly as we can wherever it could be heard.

Why should MCAfee Siteadvisor get a free ride in touting its defective, atrocious, awful, and defective product on the backs of publishers who are solely engaged in building a reputable product.

Obviously, MCAfee Siteadvisor should be the one with the sullied reputation.

It is truly unfair to those who work diligently and constantly to produce a quality product to have their credibility and reputation damaged this way - even unknowingly.

I have to rethink my continued use of MCAfee.

Even Wikipedia Has Been Pointing out the Flaws of Mcafee Siteadvisor

There has been widespread criticism for false positives/negatives and the limited, slow or non existing efforts of McAfee to address complaints from site owners.

Any Suggestions Of Actions To Be Taken?

I intend to post on any site that is relevant about MCAfee Siteadvisor faulty reporting.

I hope that other publishers who have been victimized by MCAfee Siteadvisor will do the same.

I am certain that if there is a large enough outcry about MCAfee Siteadvisor abuses, they will be forced to clean up their act and provide ususpecting subscribers with the product they think that they are paying for.

Also if any one has any idea on what to do in order to redress this unfairness, I will be happy to participate.

UPDATE

Two days after publishing this site, I received the following e-mail from Mcafee Siteadvisor.

(Begin email)

Thank you for contacting us and your interest in SiteAdvisor.

SiteAdvisor engineers will look into your issue, and will issue a change if it is deemed appropriate.

Thank you for your patience during this process.

(End email)

It may have been purely by coincidence...I don’t know.

After a few more days, I noticed a pop in my Adsense income. It seemed like a choke hold was released.

I immediately checked to see if the MCAfee Siteadvisor warning were removed and was pleasantly surprised to see that they were.

To date I have not been informed by email that they have corrected their error but that is of no consequence as long as my site is not unfairly rated.

I am happy that common decency and fairness prevailed. I am also happy that they acted with speed in correcting this error.

However, these cases are far too prevalent and greater effort should be made by MCAfee Siteadvisor to straighten out their software.

Had I not been a user of MCAfee Siteadvisor’s software, I would have been ignorant to the harm that they were doing to womens-health-symmetry.com.
