The most common occurrence of Ectopic Pregnancy is in the fallopian tube. However, an Ectopic Pregnancy could be anywhere in the abdomen, ovaries, cervix - anywhere besides the uterus.

Symptoms of an Ectopic Pregnancy

  • Pain early in the pregnancy
  • Unusual bleeding or spotting during pregnancy
  • Bleeding in first trimester

Treatment for Ectopic Pregnancy

Treatment depends to a large degree on the status of the patient

  • If the patient is stable - monitoring the patient to see if she will respond on her own
  • Surgery - in more serious cases. A rupture means automatic surgery

  • Having a previous ectopic pregnancy
  • Sexually transmitted disease
  • Scar tissues
  • Any damage to the fallopian tube
  • Smoking
  • IUDs
